Biography

Mr. Cotner maintains a practice which emphasizes workers’ compensation, insurance defense, civil litigation and trial work, and appeals in all state and federal courts. Mr. Cotner graduated Cum Laude from the University of Michigan in 1970 and received his Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University in 1974. That same year he was admitted to practice in the state of Indiana. In 1977, he was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and began practicing in Lansing. Mr. Cotner has been admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Michigan and Indiana. He is a member of the Michigan and Indiana State Bar Associations and the Ingham and Kent County Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Workers’ Compensation, Negligence and Appellate Sections of the State Bar of Michigan. Mr. Cotner has served as a mediator in Ingham, Kent and Otsego Counties and as a private arbitrator and facilitator in civil and workers’ compensation cases elsewhere in the state of Michigan.
